We take a cross-sectoral approach, analyzing such issues as multi-functional land-use and the structure and interplay of different ecosystem services. In assessing both the development and implementation of natural resource policies, we employ concepts like legitimacy, accountability, effectiveness and sustainability. We conduct stakeholder-oriented, trans- and interdisciplinary research. We work together with public administrations, public service providers, resource users as well as with other social scientists, natural scientists and engineers. We take a comparative, case-study and evidence-based approach, employing mixed methods.
